The Cocktail Glass Collection: The Pink Elephant, Monte Rio
I came across this delightful neon bar sign recently on the way out to a mushroom foraging class at Salt Point State Park on the Sonoma Coast. The cocktail glass in this one is in the trunk of the elephant – a unique custom design. I'm not sure whether this place is still open. Some sources seem to indicate that it was shut down for a while but also that it has recently (summer 2025) opened again. I'd love to see the sign lit up at night.

The Cocktail Glass Collection: Matteucci's in San Anselmo
It's been more than two years since I last posted an example of a neon cocktail glass I've seen. With the pandemic, I've hardly been out anywhere far from home.
Recently, however, I saw this one in the window of a bar in San Anselmo. This is at Matteucci's, at 114 Greenfield Ave.

The Cocktail Glass Collection: Doc's Clock
A new addition to my collection of photos of neon cocktail glass signs in front of bars. This is the sign in front of Doc's Clock, at 2417 Mission St, San Francisco, CA 94110. The sign is missing a few letters at the moment, but the blue cocktail glass with red garnish is intact. Doc's Clock proclaims it's always cocktail time.
The yellow bulbs above the lettering shift around the side of the sign to an arrow pointing to the door of the place--a narrow dive-bar kind of place from the looks of it. I didn't go in.

The Cocktail Glass Collection: Neon Cocktail Glass with Unusual Garnish
Here's another neon cocktail glass to add to my collection. Until now, I've found such signs only in front of bars, so this one's an outlier. It's not in front of a bar but in front of one of San Francisco's North Beach topless clubs--which explains the unusual garnish. It reminded me of a Mel Ramos painting. Is that a very large olive? A melon, maybe?

The Cocktail Glass Collection: Pop's Bar, San Francisco
I think this may be my new favorite neon cocktail glass sign in San Francisco (hitherto, the sign at The 500 Club at 500 Guerrero St. has been my favorite, and it's still pretty fabulous). I love the bright neon doubled lettering, in particular. There's a nice mix of colors here, too--with white, pink, orange, yellow, and green tubes. The effect is enhanced by the Christmas lights wrapped around the tree just outside the entrance. This is Pop's Bar, at 2800 24th Street (at the corner of 24th and York St.).

The Cocktail Glass Collection: Palmer's Tavern, San Francisco
At 2298 Fillmore St., in San Francisco, is Palmer's Tavern, a new addition to my collection of photos of neon cocktail glass signs in front of bars. The glass looks fairly generic, but I like the blue contrasting with the orange neon of the logo.

The Cocktail Glass Collection: The Page, San Francisco
At 298 Divisadero St., in San Francisco, is The Page, a small neighborhood bar with a nice neon sign out front. I like the custom script here and the contrast between the yellow lettering and the blue cocktail glass.

The Cocktail Glass Collection: The Boom Boom Room, San Francisco
I recently drove by the Boom Boom Room, at 1601 Fillmore St, in San Francisco. The glass in this one appears generic (although the blue-green hue is unusual), but the rest of the sign is a custom design with a lot of nicely done text.

The Cocktail Glass Collection: St. Mary's Pub, San Francisco
I've recently had reason to be in San Francisco at night more often than in the past. I'm enjoying the opportunity that's afforded to see some new neon cocktail glass signs lit. This is the sign in front of St. Mary's Pub, at 3845 Mission St., San Francisco, CA 94110. The glass itself is generic, but I like the script "St. Mary's Pub."

The Cocktail Glass Collection: The City Club, San Francisco
Another neon cocktail glass in San Francisco. This one is at The City Club, 2950 16th Street. The glass itself looks fairly generic in design, but yellow is somewhat unusual.

The Cocktail Glass Collection: The Buckhorn, Petaluma
On a recent day of driving around San Francisco after dark I passed this simple but attractive neon cocktail glass (with skewered cherry) at The Buckhorn. Unfortunately, I've lost track of the location. A Google search brings up only the Buckhorn Grill, with three locations in the city, but this appears to be an independent bar not connected with the grill. Somewhere in San Francisco....
[Update: Or so I thought. Oddly, I drove by the place again a few days after posting this. I see that The Buckhorn is in Petaluma, not San Francisco--at 615 Petaluma Blvd S. I'd forgotten where I took the photograph.]

The Cocktail Glass Collection: The Delirium Bar, San Francisco
I recently passed by the Delerium Bar, in San Francisco, at 3139 16th Street. This appears to be a custom design with the cocktail glass in blue. It's unusual in that it doesn't have a skewered olive or cherry in it.

The Cocktail Glass Collection: Susie's at Night
Susie's, in Calistoga, was the first neon cocktail glass sign I added to what has become a growing collection. I'd never seen the sign at night before. My original photo is a daytime shot. Here's Susie's sign at night. The original post is here.

The Cocktail Glass Collection: The Ha-Ra Club, San Francisco
Another neon cocktail glass sign to add to my growing collection. (This is No. 21. For more, use the "The Cocktail Glass Collection" tab to the right.) This is the Ha-Ra Club, at 875 Geary St., in San Francisco. This one looks generic, just popped on top of the Ha-Ra sign.
[Update: In November 2017, I happened to drive by the place at night. Below is a shot of the sign lit.]

The Cocktail Glass Collection: Pasquini's, Live Oak, CA
On a recent short jaunt up towards Sacramento and Redding I passed through Yuba City. On the outskirts of the town I saw this neon cocktail glass sign at Pasquini's. This one is fairly simple, but the glass is a shape I've never seen before, suggesting it was custom made. Although I seemed to be in Yuba City, the Pasquini's website gives the address as 6241 Highway 99, Live Oak, CA 95953.

The Cocktail Glass Collection: West House Cocktail Lounge, Roseville, CA
On a recent trip up north as far as Redding, California, I spied this neon cocktail glass sign in front of the West House Cocktail Lounge, at the corner of Atlantic St. and Washington Blvd., in Roseville, California. I don't think I've ever seen one like this before--with the glass hanging down from the bottom. This is one of my favorites.

The Cocktail Glass Collection: High Tide Cocktails, San Francisco
In San Francisco recently I happened to drive by The High Tide, a bar at the corner of Jones and Geary. It has an interesting neon cocktail glass sign. I didn't see it at night, but I suspect the lights allow the head of the arrow to light up to become the top of the cocktail glass. In any case, an interesting custom sign.
